Dr. Stacey Smith grew up in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and knew from an early age that she wanted to pursue a career working with animals. After graduating from Charles Page High School in 1999, she considered the field of marine biology. Ultimately, Dr. Smith chose to study Animal Science at Oklahoma State University which allowed her to stay closer to home, and most importantly, her family.
Excelling in all of her classes and working multiple jobs on campus earned her a spot in the honors program. Before finishing her graduate degree, she was accepted to veterinary school. Dr. Smith’s favorite rotations as a 4th year student were small animal medicine, anesthesia, and surgery. It was here that she developed a passion for soft tissue surgery, bladder stone removal, and extracting the strange things her patients may have eaten. After graduating from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006, Dr. Smith chose to remain in her hometown of Sand Springs where she met her husband.
After serving Tulsa and the surrounding area for more than 14 years, Dr. Smith became the proud new owner of Brookside Animal Hospital in April of 2020. Her hobbies include enjoying live music, woodworking, and cheering at her son’s baseball games. The Smiths have two adopted dogs, Bullet and Mugsie, and four chinchillas.
Dr. Smith is committed to caring for her patients throughout the pandemic, and is prepared to confront any obstacles that may be presented by COVID 19.
